Executive Director

Serves as a Founding Partner of NCTLS and as Executive Director of the Northern Kentucky Education Council and the former superintendent of Boone County Schools in Kentucky.   As part of NCTLS, Dr. Poe serves in a capacity as Former Executive Consultant of Innovation for the National Center of Education Research and Technology (NCERT) and currently is a Senior Fellow of the Schlechty Center.  Dr. Poe also currently serves as an appointed representative on the Kentucky School Board and the U.K. Medicine Admissions Selection Committee.    He is deeply committed to supporting the mission and enhancing advocacy efforts for Public Education.  As superintendent his focus revolved around academic rigor, real world relevance and focused partnerships with students, parents and the community.  Dr. Poe has been recognized at both the state and national levels for his accomplishments. He was honored to be named as the 2015 F.L. Dupree Outstanding Superintendent Award, 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award by Northern Kentucky Education Council, the 2013 Kentucky Superintendent of the Year by the Kentucky Association of School Administrators and AASA, the 2012 Outstanding NKU Alumnus of the College of Education and Human Services. He was selected for the Northern Kentucky Education Council – One-to-One Literacy Award in 2011 and recently, Dr. Poe was recognized as the 2017 Kentucky Parent –Teacher Association Honorary Life Recognition and the 2016 Celebrate Advocacy for Public Education Award by the Kentucky School Boards Association.  Dr. Poe served six years on the Northern Kentucky University Alumni Board of Directors, the ITLN Education Advisory Council, and is Past-President for the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents. Dr. Poe is married to Melinda and has four children and four grandchildren.
